Mitchondrial Eve and Five Human Types

Mitochondrial Eve is very important in the field of human genetics.  Mitochondrial Eve refers to the matrilineal "MRCA" (most recent common ancestor). "She" was the woman from whom all living humans today descend, on their mother's side, and through the mothers of those mothers and so on, back until all lines converge on one person. Eve was believed to live 200,000 years ago in Africa.

Eve was the only female of her generation from whom all living people descend along their maternal lines.

Eve is important because there is a direct female line to her from all living humans. She is not our only common ancestor, nor is she our most recent. However, more recent ancestors are hard to date because of the mixing of the genes in sex.

What I take from this comes from a very literal meaning.  I mean, if you believe in evolution at all then it only makes since that we all trace back to one common female ancestor. (pretty crazy to think about!!!)
